Dr. Kisti Catalano, Medical Director

Dr. Kisti Catalano, Medical Director, is responsible for overall clinical leadership for primary medical care services, ensuring that the mission and health care goals of Pillars Community Health are realized through the professional and effective delivery of integrated health care. Dr. Catalano provides primary care medical services, as well as leading our efforts to proactively address the growing healthcare needs of the community. Dr. Catalano was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin. She completed her medical degree and Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Catalano is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Catalano is fluent in English and medical conversational Spanish.

Dr. Nunya Irvine, Dental Director

Dr. Nunya Irvine received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. She joined Pillars Community Health in March 2014, bringing a wealth of experience and interest in patient care, public health, and ensuring provision of dental care to underserved individuals and families. As Dental Director, Dr. Irvine provides direct patient care, overall clinical leadership, and oversight for all dental services and oral health education. She also serves on our Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement Committees. In addition, Dr. Irvine serves in the Illinois National Guard as Chief Dentist for Scott Air Force Base. She is a member of the Illinois State Dental Society and American Association of Women Dentists.

Dr. Candace Badie, Dental Provider

Dr. Candace Badie received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Badie provides preventive and restorative dental treatment for both children and adults and has special interest in patient education about oral health and the important link to systemic health. She is a member of the Illinois State Dental Society and American Dental Society.

Sam Boburka, PA-C

Sam graduated from Midwestern University’s physician assistant program in Downers Grove in 2011. She worked full time in OB/GYN for five years, and now has joined our team as an OB and family practice PA. She has a passion for obstetrics and gynecology, but also loves providing family centered care with a focus in patient education and performing small in office procedures such as cryotherapy, colposcopy, pap smears and vulvar biopsies. Sam is fluent in English, and is able to speak some Spanish. She is taking Spanish classes to further improve her vocabulary.

Dr. Adrianna Dangremond

Dr. Adrianna Dangremond is a family practice physician working with Pillars Community Health through December 2017. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Adrianna Dangremeond held a private practice for many years. Dr. Dangremond retired from her private practice in 2015 to take her skills as a family medicine physician to the road. She has been a family physician locally in Winnetka, IL, San Diego, California, and several other cities and states. She loves to work with people of all ages. Dr. Dangremond’s Amero-Cuban heritage has given her a particular affinity to the Spanish-speaking populations and expands her ability to help more people because of being bilingual in English and Spanish. Dr. Dangremond graduated from The University of Illinois Medical School, Chicago, and completed her residency in Family Medicine at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Daniel G. Hunter-Smith

Dr. Hunter-Smith is a part-time Family Practice physician at Pillars Community Health providing patient services since August 2014. He joined the Residency Practice in 1994 and served as Director of the Family Medicine Center from 1994-2009. He is currently the Designated Institutional Official at Amita Adventist La Grange Hospital which supports the Safety and Quality Initiatives between the hospital and the residency program. Dr. Hunter-Smith graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine Residency at MacNeal Hospital, Berwyn, Illinois in 1984. Dr. Hunter-Smith holds a certificate in Added Qualification in Geriatrics.

Dr. Craig Kestenberg

Dr. Kestenberg is a psychiatrist who provides evaluation, counseling, and medication management services to Pillars Community Health patients.Dr. Kestenberg enjoys providing patients and their family members with the most appropriate patient-centered treatment options, based on his medical knowledge from past training, continuing education, and variety of clinical experiences. His clinical interest areas include treatment of mood and anxiety disorders in all populations.Dr. Kestenberg is board certified in both adult psychiatry and child and adult psychiatry.


Alexis is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Alexis provides Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Treatment Services at Pillars Community Health in our Medical Center. Her training and experience includes crisis intervention, short-term counseling, assessment and referral, domestic violence counseling, anger management, and art therapy. Alexis was awarded her Masters of Counseling from Adler School of Psychology in Chicago.

Dr. Jennifer Swoyer

Dr. Swoyer is a part-time Family Practice and Obstetrics physician with Pillars Community Health, providing services here since August 2014. She is part of a supervisory co-collaborative with Dr. Tessalee for our Family Practice & OB Physician Assistant, Samantha Boburka. In addition to her part-time services at Pillars Community Health, Dr. Swoyer is the Program Director of the Amita Adventist La Grange Family Medicine Residency Program, and was previously the Director of Medical Education and Osteopathic Program Director from 2008-2016. After receiving her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996, Dr. Swoyer graduated from the La Grange Family Medicine Residency Program in 1999.

Dr. Daphne Tessalee

Dr. Tessalee is a part-time Family Practice & Obstetrics physician at Pillars Community Health providing patient services here since August 2014. Dr. Tessalee also serves in a co-collaborative role with Dr. Jen Swoyer overseeing the OB Physician Assistant at Community Nurse. After receiving her medical degree from Rush Medical College in 1994, Dr. Tessalee graduated from Rush-Illinois Masonic Family Medicine Residency in 1997. She continued with the program an additional year as a Fellow, developing more intensive skills in obstetrics and teaching. Dr. Tessalee is also the Center Director at La Grange Family Medicine Center.
